Arsenal set to miss out signing of 23-year-old La Liga defender
The rumoured Arsenal target, Pau Torres, could reportedly be on his way to Real Madrid in the summer with the La Liga side keen on the defender.
According to a recent report by Goal, the Villarreal man is high on the wishlist of transfer targets for the Madrid heavyweights.
However, a reported £57 million price-tag could put the Galacticos off, who are trying to negotiate a cheaper sum.
He has developed into one of the top centre-halves over in Spain through his performances with the Yellow Submarine.
Managed by former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, he has also been mentioned with a move to the Gunners as recently as January.
However, it is Los Blancos who look like they are making their move for the Spaniard but Emery will not want to let his player go without a fight based on his previous comments. He stating he believes Pau is a ‘top’ player previously.
Liverpool were also touted with an interest in Pau late last year. However, Jurgen Klopp opted for Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak in the January window.
Pau Torres is one of the most in-demand defenders in Europe it seems.
He’s a good age, seems to have plenty of talent, and to some teams, will be seen as a bit of a bargain but £57m is a big sum for a club like Arsenal to pay.
The club paid less than £30 million for Gabriel in the summer, which is more likely the market they will be looking in again this year.
