Arsenal set to make move for 26-year-old La Liga star

Arsenal and Tottenham have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona this summer. The north London rivals did battle for the top four last campaign, with Tottenham narrowly sealing the fourth spot ahead of Arsenal.

Both Mikel Arteta and Antonio Conte will be looking to improve their squads ahead of the next campaign. The Gunners and Spurs have been linked with a whole host of footballers, including the likes of Man City striker Gabriel Jesus.

Meanwhile, Clement Lenglet has been made available by Barcelona for both north London teams to sign on loan. France international is a left-footed defender who has played 160 games for Barcelona across all tournaments and plays for the national team.

The Gunners have had to settle for Europa League football for the next campaign, and Juventus shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny thinks it could be a few years before his former club are back in the UCL.

‘As a fan, it was really disappointing,’ said Wojciech Szczesny. ‘They gave it a good go, and nobody would have said before the season started that they had a chance. They were still in it with two games of the season left. It’s disappointing, but they have actually done a good job this year.’

‘I can see Mikel’s idea of football, he has a young team, so they will be alright,’ Wojciech Szczesny added. ‘Another couple of years and they will be back in the Champions League.’
