Arsenal set to agree deal for experienced PL stopper
Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to secure services of Brighton & Hove Albion stopper Mat Ryan on a permanent basis in the summer.
The Australian international has joined the North London club in January on loan until the end of this campaign and has since impressed Spanish head-coach Mikel Arteta, who is keen to see the 29-year-old to remain at the club.
According to Football Insider, talks between both teams are progressing well and they are edging closer to agreeing a fee, believed to be less than the £10m price tag that Brighton were asking for earlier this campaign.
Spanish stopper Robert Sanchez has now established himself as Brighton’s first-choice, and head coach Graham Potter is considering departure of Matt Ryan.
Ryan, who has been capped 58 times by the Australian national team, has joined the Seagulls from Spanish giants La Liga side Valencia back in 2017.
He has played over 120 games for Brighton, including 11 this season, and also kept 27 clean sheets in the English top-tier.
Arsenal stopper Brand Leno meanwhile has been rumoured with a departure from the club with teams from Bundesliga are keen on to lure him away from the Emirates Stadium.
