Arsenal ready to listen offer for 28-year-old Spanish star
Arsenal have slapped a price tag of €18m on Hector Bellerin, who has emerged as a transfer target for Roma heading into the summer window. Spain international joined the Gunners from Barcelona’s La Masia youth setup in 2011 and broke into the senior team in 2014 after a loan spell away at Watford.
Bellerin soon became a mainstay at right-back for Arsenal and went on to play 239 games in which he has chalked up a return of nine goals and 29 assists. Hector lost some of his quality following a severe knee injury, which eventually led to him falling down the pecking order at Arsenal.
And the 27-year-old defender was shipped out on loan last summer to Real Betis as the Gunners signed Takehiro Tomiyasu to strengthen their options at right-back.
The Spanish defender had a solid campaign with Los Verdiblancos, playing 32 games and setting up five goals, helping Real Betis finish fifth in La Liga and win the Copa del Rey. With his loan spell expiring, the Spaniard will return to Arsenal imminently.
Bellerin wishes to return to Real Betis permanently, but the Spanish club are not in a solid financial position to sign him up. Roma, who won the Conference League this past campaign, are intent on adding a new right-back to their roster to provide competition to Karsdorp. The Gunners value Hector at €18m as the Spanish manager’s value look to extract full value for the 27-year-old defender.
