Arsenal in pole position to finalise transfer of 18-year-old Bourenmouth ace
Arsenal are leading a fierce transfer hunt to try and sign Bournemouth sensation Ajani Burchall, according to The Sun.
The 16-year-old made his senior team debut for the Cherries in last year’s December, coming off the bench during a 5-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
Ajani has rejected scholarship terms at the Vitality Stadium side, however, and Gunners are willing to pounce.
A Bermudan attacker, the teenager has an abundance of pace and ability to beat opposition defenders with ease.
They are not alone in their quest to land the Championship man though, with several Premier League clubs thought to be keen.
Burchall only made a brief match for the first-team but was also in the roster for a game with Luton a week later.
He has been a regular for the team’s youth ranks, however, and looks like youngster who could develop into a top-quality player.
One big plus for the forward would be that manager Mikel Arteta has developed a reputation for giving youth a chance.
The likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have emerged through the academy on Mikel’s watch, with others also earning opportunities.
Having a manager who is interested in developing youth can only bode well for Ajani and choosing Arsenal could prove a wise career choice.
In other news, Serie A side Fiorentina have allegedly emerged as the frontrunners to land Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira in the summer transfer market, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The Florence club are understood to be ‘well ahead’ in negotiations with Torreira, who has given Arsenal the ‘green light’ to complete the transfer.
He was sent on loan to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in October but after starting just three top-flight matches under Diego Simeone, there were discussions that his temporary deal would be cancelled.
