Arsenal handed massive blow in their pursuit of Man City winger
Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez has rubbished talks that linked him with a shock move to Arsenal ahead of the next season.
The Algeria international was rumoured with a move to the Emirates in 2016 after the Foxes Premier League title-winning season, however, he remained at the King Power for two more years before making switch to the Etihad Stadium.
The 30-year-old forward played a vitall role in City’s run to the Champions League final last campaign, and he has affirmed that he is focusing on his future in Manchester, in spite of a recent report suggesting that the team had put him and Raheem Sterling on the transfer list.
Speaking to DZ Sport after scoring the winner in Algeria’s 1-0 victory over Mali on Sunday, Mahrez said: “There is nothing about my future. I am well in Manchester. I will stay, God willing.”
Mahrez ended the 2020-21 campaign with 14 goals and nine assists from 48 games in all competitions, and his deal at the Etihad does not end for another two years.
The Gunners are believed to be in the market for offensive reinforcements this summer, however, they have been beaten to the services of Emiliano Buendia by Aston Villa.
