Arsenal eyeing move for in-form Brighton defender
Arsenal are reportedly contemplating an approach for Brighton & Hove Albion’s full-back Tariq Lamptey if Hector Bellerin departs from the club.
Bellerin has been the Gunners first-choice right-back for the past few years, however, Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has supposedly identified the Spaniard as his priority target if he assumes office at Nou Camp.
With Portuguese defender Cedric Soares often restricted to starts in the Europa League and Ainsley Maitland-Niles out of favour, the North London club would be expected to move swiftly for a new right-back if the Spaniard makes a return to his boyhood club Barcelona.
According to The Mirror, the Gunners are eyeing up Brighton’s Lamptey as an ideal replacement for Bellerin, with the Seagulls right-back bursting onto the scene in the 2020-21 season.
Lamptey still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current Brighton deal, however, Graham Potter reportedly wants to tie the 20-year-old down to a new deal as a matter of urgency following his eye-catching displays this campaign.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest in Lamptey, who has found back of the net once and proided three assists to his name this campaign.
