Arsenal defender backed on loan Real Madrid midfielder to have “big future”
Cedric Soares believes Arsenal loan acquisition Martin Odegaard has a “big future” after the ace’s encouraging start to a stint at the north London club.
Arsenal won the hunt to sign the Norway international on loan from Spanish side Real Madrid for the rest of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign.
The 22-year-old playmaker has shown glimpses of his ability in the matches from the bench in the Premier League as Martin looks to add more creativity to the Gunners midfield.
Arsenal defender Cedric has been impressed with his teammate’s showings on the pitch as well as his attitude around Arsenal’s training ground.
“He has been excellent,” Cedric is quoted as saying by Metro. “He’s a very nice guy. He’s talking with everyone and speaks lots of Spanish, so he has been talking with everyone.
“I think all the team is welcoming him very well. He had a good game in the last game, when he started.
“He’s a calm person but I think he’s bringing a lot of quality to the squad and he has been excellent. I’m sure he will keep growing as a player. He has a big future ahead of him.”
Martin will be tasked with filling the void left by the former Germany international Mesut Ozil in the North London.
He is the second Real Madrid player to move to the Emirates on loan after Arsenal secured Dani Ceballos’ services for a second successive campaign.
Odegaard and his Gunners team-mates will take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at home on Sunday afternoon.
