Arsenal continue chase for South American wing wizard
Arsenal could allegedly make a January loan swoop for Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.
The north Londoners have been poor in front of goal thus far this season.
They have netted 12 goals in their first 14 league games and sit 15th in the Premier League table.
The Gabonese star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has barely contributed, netting three league goals in 13 appearances.
That’s led to club senior figures looking at new attacking options.
According to the Daily Star, the Gunners are hoping to land Brazil international Vinicius Junior in the January transfer market.
The 20-year-old ace is available on the loan list as Los Blancos officials hope for his exciting development to continue.
The South American can play on either wing, making him a versatile team player.
He’s made six goal contributions in 18 games this campaign. Vinicius has also been capped once by Brazil.
His time at Real Madrid came under scrutiny back two months ago as striker Karim Benzema allegedly told his teammates ‘not to pass the ball’ to Vinicius.
A loan move would mean the Gunners could check out the star’s talent without having to fork out a substantial fee.
He could compete with his compatriot Willian and the Ivorian star Nicolas Pepe for a place in the starting lineup.
Considering their current league position, Gunners fans might be worried about their club placing too much pressure on youngsters.
Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures don’t look too challenging, although the club do start with a tough match against Chelsea on Boxing Day.
Landing Vinicius on loan next month could give the Spanish head coach Mikel Arteta an extra option to find much-needed goals.
