Almost Done: South American starlet on his way to Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly one of nine clubs seeking to secure a deal for Racing midfielder Charly Alcaraz this summer.

The Argentine youngster has been playing regularly for his side since being promoted from the youth sector and has caught the eye with brilliant performances in the engine room.

A breakthrough 2021 season saw him make 25 appearances for La Academia in all tournaments, netting one goal and laying on three assists in that period.

Charly has already registered five goals and two assists from 17 matches in the 2022 term in his homeland, while Alcaraz’s versatility has also been on display.

The South American only penned a contract extension with the club in March, and those terms aren’t due to run out until the summer of 2026.

However, Marca reports that as many as nine teams have been keeping tabs on him throughout the past year, including the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side are set to wave goodbye to Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira at the end of the season, while the Ghana international Thomas

Partey continues to experience a difficult period with several injuries. Mohamed Elneny is allegedly in talks with the board over a fresh deal.

But the manager is expected to be in the transfer market for at least one new lynchpin this summer.
