26-year-old Lyon forward turned down new contract offer amid Man Utd interest
Moussa Dembele has reportedly turned down Lyon’s latest contract offer and has informed the Ligue 1 giants that he has no intention of extending his stay at Parc Olympique Lyonnais amid interest from Man Utd and Arsenal.
The 26-year-old forward has enjoyed a stunning 2021-22 season for his French team, finding the back of the net on 22 times in 36 games in all competitions, in addition to providing five assists.
In total, the Frenchman has found back of the net 67 times and provided 18 assists in 144 games for Les Gones since making the switch from Celtic in 2018.
Dembele’s current deal is set to expire next summer, though, and there has been a host of rumours surrounding his future during the summer window.
The Red Devils are believed to be admirers of the ex-Fulham starlet, with the 20-times English champions potentially bringing in two new forwards before the deadline.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have also been credited with an interest in the forward, who scored 51 goals and registered 18 assists in 94 games for Celtic during his time in Scottish football.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon have failed in their latest attempts to keep hold of Dembele, who is not planning to extend his stay with the French giants.
The report suggests that the Ligue 1 giants offered him two-year extension, however, he is expected to leave either this summer or on a free transfer after the end of the 2022/23 season and Premier League believed to be his favoured destination.
